Neal Rock is a Welsh artist currently living and working in London, UK and San Bernardino, California. He gained a BFA (Hons) Degree in Painting from the University of Gloucestershire, UK in 1999 and an MFA from Central Saint Martins School of Art & Design, UK in 2000. Rock has exhibited extensively across Europe and the US, with solo exhibitions in Germany, France, Holland and in London, New York City and Los Angeles, amongst others. His work was included in the 2007 Jerwood Contemporary Painters; 2014 John Moores Painting Prize; 2015 Bloomberg New Contemporaries and the 2016 XL Catlin Art Prize. He has participated in survey exhibitions at Storefront for Art & Architecture, NYC; The Albright-Knox, Buffalo NY; Contemporary Art Museum Houston, Texas; The Royal Academy of Art, London; ICA, London. He has completed residencies at VCCA, Yaddo, The Studios at MASS MoCA and fellowships at the University of Iowa and University of Nevada Las Vegas. In 2017 he gained a studio-arts Ph.D in Painting from the Royal College of Art in London and has been a visiting artist at institutions such as Goldsmiths, The Slade, Central Saint Martins, University of Southern California and Glasgow School of Art. He is represented by MTArt, London.
